Tom X. Lee, MD
CEO
Tom is the CEO and visionary behind 1Life Healthcare and One Medical Group. He is a nationally recognized expert on medical practice re-design, as well as mobile application design and health information technology.
Prior to 1Life, Tom was Chief Medical Officer, Editor-in-Chief and VP of Product Design of Epocrates – designer of the most widely-used clinical decision support tools for health care professionals. In addition, he served as Senior Program Officer at the California Healthcare Foundation, helping lead the evaluation of pioneer information exchange models as well as iHealthBeat – the leading health IT news service.
A board-certified internist with training completed at Harvard’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Tom received his BS in Biology from Yale University and went on to earn his MD from the University of Washington and MBA from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business.
Sharon Knight
President
Sharon heads up Corporate Operations at 1Life including the finance, sales, marketing and real estate teams. She focuses on driving revenue growth through new office and new market expansion, customer acquisition and new business initiatives.
Prior to joining the company, Sharon spent more than six years at Electronic Arts (EA), holding senior management roles in finance and operations in California and the UK. As EA’s Senior Vice President for Central Development Services, she established the company’s first global shared service function – providing integrated development and QA solutions to studios worldwide. Sharon also spent four years with Gap Inc. as Senior Director of Financial Planning & Analysis and four years with KFC Corporation in various management roles within strategic, financial, and new concept planning.
Sharon earned her BA from Smith College and MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management.
Alden Romney
Vice President, Operations
Alden is responsible for all Clinical and Administrative Operations at 1Life. He manages day-to-day operations and brings analytical rigor and program management to the company, driving the business to scale and achieve world-class service and quality.
Prior to 1Life, Alden held senior level positions in the health and wellness space, most recently as Chief Operating Officer of Wellspring Academies.
Alden earned his MBA from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business and graduated with a BA in Mathematics from Pomona College.
Sarah Israel
Vice President, Marketing
Sarah is responsible for all aspects of marketing including the acquisition of new customers, brand development and customer experience insight. In addition, she manages 1Life’s real estate efforts from new market and site selection to store design and build-out.
Her experience spans the retail, consumer products, media and Internet industries and helps her bring a customer-centric focus to how 1Life redefines health care. Before joining 1Life, Sarah worked as a director at Victoria’s Secret Beauty where she was part of a team that doubled the business to $1B in sales over a five-year period and where she was responsible for strategy, customer research, and real estate. Prior to Victoria’s Secret, Sarah worked as Product Manager for Double Click and as a strategy consultant with Oliver, Wyman & Company.
Sarah graduated magna cum laude from Princeton University and received her MBA from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business.
Michael Sarmiento
Vice President, Finance
Michael is responsible for directing the finance, accounting, and legal functions of the company. He has more than 15 years experience in finance, accounting, and business management, with an emphasis on growth and early stage companies.
Prior to 1Life, Mike worked as VP of Finance for financial services firm Nexxo Financial Corporation and as an Assurance and Advisory Services auditor with Ernst & Young. He was also Senior Accounting Manager for World Wrapps Inc., a high-growth restaurant company that originated and popularized “wraps”, and served in Senegal, Africa as a Small Enterprise Developer for the United States Peace Corps.
After receiving his Bachelor’s degree in Economics from UC Berkeley, Mike earned his Master of Science in accountancy from the University of Notre Dame, graduating magna cum laude, and was honored with the Ernst & Young / University of Notre Dame Leadership Award.
Ed Ross
Vice President, Business Development
Ed leads our business development efforts. He is a seasoned business and corporate development executive who has successfully developed and launched solutions for health plans, health management companies, PBMs, employers, and providers.
Prior to 1Life, Ed served as Vice President of Business Development for ShapeUp, the leading provider of social health and wellness solutions. He was responsible for building distribution channels with Aetna, United Health Group, ActiveHealth and Optum to sell ShapeUp’s core software platform. Ed was also instrumental in building ShapeUp from its seed phase to present day where ShapeUp provides service to over 100 large companies in 93 countries.
Ed has also served as Director of Business and Corporate Development for Atlantic Health Partners and as Director of Sales for Zix Corporation’s eHealth business unit.
Ed holds a BS in Economics from Salve Regina University.
Margo Christou
Vice President, Human Resources
Margo is responsible for Human Resources. She leads a team that recruits, retains, and develops the talent that will enable One Medical to deliver on our mission.
Prior to 1Life, Margo held a variety of senior leadership positions in Human Resources at Dun & Bradstreet, most recently as the Director of Talent Acquisition.
After receiving her Bachelor’s degree in Applied Economics from Cornell University, Margo also earned a Masters of Business Administration from the Tuck School at Dartmouth College.
